Tree Nut Butter Recipe

This tree nut butter recipe is a recipe I created as I can’t eat peanuts! It involves xylitol, coconut oil and any tree nuts you want to include! You can opt to change the xylitol to sugar, though it’s much healthier with a sugar-free sweetener (granted, it’s not chemical!).

For the recipe, you’ll simply need a food processor. You will mostly let the processor do the work, but I add coconut oil in the middle of it. Add the xylitol as you add the nuts into the processor so it can be mixed in properly. Otherwise, you’ll end up with it being in bits inside of the butter.

Mixed nuts, roasted.
Those tree nuts look delicious! They’re roasted for around 6 minutes in the oven at around 150-175 C fan! You can roast them for another 2 minutes if they don’t start to let their aroma out!

Preheat the oven to around 175 C fan on or 150 C fan on. You’ll want to put the baking paper on the tray, then add the nuts. We roast them to let their flavour out, just like with our flour! When you can smell the aroma around 6 to 10 minutes after putting them into the oven, take them out. You’ll want to add it to the food processor.

Yum, that coconut oil looks really delicious! This will help to add some smoothness to the nut butter! You can optionally decide not to add it. I just feel it also gives it a nice coconut flare to it!

Add the xylitol to the food processor, then mix it for around a minute to two. Alternatively, you can swap out the xylitol with sugar if you prefer. Once done, add the coconut oil, then mix for another 10 minutes. Make sure to scrape the sides with a spatula to evenly process.

Tree Nut Butter
Here it is finished! It looks delicious, and it also does taste very delicious! How about you give it a try?

Cumin Pie Pastry

Cumin pie pastry can be made with cumin butter, which we made in our previous post. Alternatively, simply add cumin spice to the pastry dough. If you don’t use the butter you will simply need around 3 tbsp of cumin powder and add it before you add the liquid.

Another pie pastry you might like to try includes turmeric pie pastry which adds great health benefits to any bake!

The pastry can be used to make an array of delicious dishes! Here are one’s that we recommend:

  • Peach Tart – a soft and sweet tart which goes well with ice cream.
  • Cinnamon Pineapple Pie. This pie is extremely delectable! The cinnamon and nutmeg gives it such an awe-inspiring flavour!

Cumin Butter

Cumin butter is not only healthy but delicious as well! Both rich, earthy and warm- you can add this to almost any savoury dish! It’s also got a long array of health benefits which you can read up here. If you want to add more flavour and healthiness to the butter- you can make turmeric butter instead. If you want to save time on this- make sure to use an electric whisker as it is quite hard on your arms.

During the recipe, if your double cream gets stuck in the whisk. You can simply declog it by using a fork. Alternatively, you can add milk to separate the cream and give it some liquid. While making the butter you’ll find you’ve made some buttermilk which works well in any baked good.

Turmeric Butter

Just like my previous butter, this turmeric butter is easy to make! The only really extras would be turmeric and cumin. It’s quite tiring if you decide to hand-whisk the butter so make sure to use an electric mixer! Not only does this taste better than store-bought butter; the turmeric makes it much healthier to eat! You can also add this to pretty much anything you want, here is an article online which highlights the health benefits of turmeric.

Though during the recipe; if your double cream is all stuck in the whisk- add some milk. It’ll not only move the cream/butter out of the whisk but also add moisture. This moisture helps to get the butter from sticking inside of a whisk. Also, you get more yummy buttermilk! This buttermilk will, however, taste like turmeric- it is up to personal preference whether you prefer that or not.

Butter from Extra Thick Double Cream!

This butter recipe was made from extra thick double cream! It’s rather fun (though personally; it’s also tiring to your arm) to make it! This is great if you’ve run out of it and need to make some quickly! Either for a recipe or general cooking needs- as long as you’ve got double cream! You’re ready!

Though during the recipe; if your double cream is all stuck in the whisk- add some milk. It’ll not only move the cream/butter out of the whisk but also add moisture. This moisture helps to get the butter from sticking inside of a whisk. Also, you get more yummy buttermilk!

Image steps!

In these steps in the most simple form; we add the double cream. Whisking it until it’s in a solid form then strain it. Make sure to squeeze the buttermilk out of it then wrap!

If you want you can add salt to the double cream to it then whisk it. You need to add the salt at the double cream stage to help incorporate it.
